 Screaming for Change
« Thread Started on Dec 21, 2007, 10:42am »

The sun had receded to its fiery bed and the moon had yet to take its place. The garden had once looked pretty but now the shadows had claimed it and murdered the colours. It looked better like that was a darkened creature as he scanned the terrain with almost black orbs. He wished it would stay like that and hated the fact that come morning the sun would once more raise and claim it as its own. But at least he had the few hours of darkness left to walk in the place of dreams. Unpleasant dreams that almost made him smile, but the die a smile could be seen on his velvet kissers would be the day the pathetic creatures lives came to an unpleasant end by his daggers.
His ears were pricked as he listened out for any signs of life. He had been alone for quiet a while now and the lack of other creatures was starting to concern him. Why had they disappeared from a land that once thrived with life? Don’t get him wrong, he loved his solitude at times but this was just going too far. He had not seen any signs of other wolves for many days now. Even a sighting of a light or neutral wolf would improve things. Though he hoped to satin that there would be more darks that the other alliances. Maybe if he got together all the darks they could chase away the others and claim the land as theirs once and for all. It would happen some time, he was sure of it and he hoped that he would play a big part in it.
Sensing that there was no one else around, he raised his muzzle to the black velvet sky.
Hear my call and prove I am not the only one
He hadn’t known what he was going to say until the words had come out and he wasn’t to sure that they were right. It didn’t matter though, words were only words, the meaning behind them was more important. He just hoped that there would be some one to answer his cry and that would be all the proof he needed. If it was a fellow creature that bathed in shadows the he hoped to meet them and maybe talk plans. For now he waited with a still silence that made him appear as a statue.

Two roads... split off from here,
and my life goes running in opposite directions.
Exaggerating the barrier between who I am, and who I want to be.

A slow movement of the eyelids signaled the life in the weary and tired body of the stallion, huge muscles lay dormant under the silky fur, there was no need for brute power now. Not anymore, at least. It saddened him to think back to the days when there were plenty to roam these vast lands, now it was a blessing to see another. Images flashed slowly through his mind and his head drooped lower. Azura was one of the first to go, and he hadn't seen her since. He couldn't say that he missed Infinity, but he knew that even with him around, there was more of a chance of saving the last living on these parts.
He needed no hope. He only needed to know, and he did, he knew that one day things would be back to the way they used to be. What he didn't know was when that would be... He did not fear death, but the thought of dying of old age, alone, made his whole body go cold.

I wanted to be that breath of fresh air,
When everything smelled so insincere.
But this taste still lingers in my mouth,
Deceit has ways of sticking around.
And I'm ready to disappear,
Vacation seems far, seems far from here.

It may be a forlorn scene, but it was regal as well. There was sorrow in him, but there was a scent of power as well, a strong power, that no matter how one tried, could not be broken. He was a king, far from home, just watching, waiting.
His head raised as a cry pierced the night. His flesh rippled. It was none like himself, it was a wolf, he was never weary of them, but he still kept to himself, in simple respect. Not anymore, not when the lonely state of his sickened mind threatened to take his sanity from beneath him. He scanned the garden, and through the night, he caught the movement of the canine.

I can feel my mind, wandering again.
Into where I don't know, and will I ever get home?
Time starts moving, faster than I can.
And I'm sick of this scene,
I need a break from routine.

He watched carefully, and the scent filtered into his nasal passage. It was a musky smell, of sweat and ancient blood, this was definitely a male he was looking at. The night only darkened the colors, but not the detail. He could make out the eyes, glinting maliciously, like the orbs of the wolven usually do, but this one had not yet seen him. The stallion studied him for a few more moments, trying to recognize the face, the build, but nothing about the creature was at all familiar.
He flicked his head, his forelock lifting and settling to one side. He knew he needn't reply, but it was only courteous, and Felstead was a courteous stallion. His voice was clear, loud, deep. Behind it one could almost see the years behind the horse, the ancient trail that was passed to him. He was not one to be misjudged.
"You are not alone."

Once the howl had finished its eerie repetitions in the silence, Dorcha stood with his legs slightly sprayed and head down, ghostly orbs staring straight ahead into the gloom. There he waited for any sign that he had been heard. He wasn’t one who usually disliked loneliness but this was getting too far. He had not seen any signs of life for a few weeks now and it only raised one question, were did they go?
Words floated into his hearing and his thoughts processed them into meaning. The lyrics were sounds that he would never use but it was still possible to understand. The creature was not like him but rather equine. This puzzled him for a second, both bands of animals usually kept away from each other. The only answer that he could come up with for this rare occasion was that the same thing was happening to them. He was glad that he had found another animal in the deserted lands and if he had been lesser a wolf he would have sighed, but that was beneath him, instead his expression and stance remained neutral.
He was not sure what he thought about the fact that it was not one of his own that he was talking to, but did it really matter? His undaunted mettle let him stay where he was, with emotionless orbs staring towards the siloughet that he figured to be the equine. The only thing that mattered to Dorcha was of what alliance did the stallion fall from. Did he swear his allegiance to the shadows, to the sunlight or did he prefer to walk with two stilts in the grassy meadows and two in the blood stained sand. There was only one that he would accept as the others did not share the hell or tried to do both. He though little of lights and felt that they were so petty that he should not bother with them and he thought even less of those that were undecided though a neutral was where he was spawned from. They tried to divide their allegiances and from his past experience they were the ones to fall as they got caught in the cross fire.
His keen eyes tried to penetrate the darkness whence he came as he tried to make out more detail of this foreign beast. He knew hardly anything about the ones his kind shared the lands with and the curious side of him that had been straining to come into life lay in silence no more. It asked questions in his think box but he pushed them aside for the moment. It almost flared to life in his eyes but he had been learning to keep his feelings hidden from them but he was only just managing to keep them under wraps. They were a mix of emotions that lay closer to the surface than he had liked to be deeper but they still had yet to appear from the gateways of his soul.
And who is it to destroy my solitude?
The lyrics were clear and seemed to cut through the night like a dagger yet spoke without scorn, malice or anger. They remained neutral and would remain that way until he knew more. He left his gaze trained on the other trying to gather any information on the stallion that would be useful if ever there was a clash, though he knew not to judge the whole race on this one individual he knew that there was things he could learn that could be of help.

Now, in winter, I'm looking, forward to spring
It's cold here, and damp there, and I want,
more sunlight on my skin
Coz I don't want to be here
And I'm not coping with the pace
I hate the, the distance between the future and this place

He watched the form of the other creature intently. He wasn't afraid... No. He was inquisitive, perhaps even curious. They all use that saying that 'curiosity killed the cat', but they never said anything about a horse... He took a slow step forward, his neck lowering to try and catch the wolf's eyes, trying so desperately to figure out who this canine was. And then his voice came. Not irritated, but not exactly pleased either. He was clearly of the darker side of life, ones that lived to confuse until the bitter end, when they reigned a sour victory from a place that they created with their crooked mind games. He smiled softly to himself. This was obviously going to be fun.

For, as long as, I can re, remember now
I have been, living for, tomorrow, and not for now
Coz I don't want to be here
I'd just prefer to leave
I want to try a new, a new lifestyle now oh please

And then like a sign from whatever they all prayed to; the moon was unleashed from behind it's prison of clouds, and in the night the other was revealed.
"Tarinis..." He whispered softly to himself.
He had seen this wolf before. Not many times, but enough to tell the dark lead from all the others. His tail lashed out as a leaf fell gently upon his rump, and he shuddered as a gust of cold wind came from out of nowhere. He had not yet made up his mind about the brute. He had never conversed with him before, and he had never planned to, but now that the time had brought itself upon them both, he decided that to be civil would be the best idea. Unless of course he was provoked to be otherwise.

Letting Go
I'm breathing in and out your emptiness
And I sighed I'm so misunderstood
Well I know you're leaving
Believe me
I can't believe that
I once believed in you

With a coarse sigh he raised his head and arched his neck, flicking his skull to one side to remove the long forelock that hung before his right eye. He took a few more steps forward and uncaped himself from the shadow of the trees. Now they both stood in the moon's revealing light, just watching, until his voice broke the silence once again. A deeper tone, the curiosity running thin in the air.
"Do you not know of me?"
He was weary of the answer, but without questions what would life be? He didn't expect the wolf to know his name, or even his rank, but he was intrested in what he might come up with. His auds perked to hear the reply. A small smirk upon his mug. Today was exactly a light day for him... But somehow he knew that was a good thing.

Premise to a fight
you're leaving in a fit of hate
strong enough to cry
on any day than today

The brute stared intently at the equine trying to see through the darkness. It was funny how the shadows he thrived on left him blinded. But he knew that they had their reasons. The other would be revealed in all good time. Until then he had no way of telling who he was talking to. At the moment all he could see was the dim outline of the hoofed animal and knew that about the same was shown of him.

Then the luminous glow of the rising moon broke through the clouds and slashed down on his back. Now he knew that he could be seen clearly and he thought he heard a whisper coming from the equine but the words couldn't penetrate his mind as they were snapped away by the gust of wind that shortly followed. But it did not bother him as he knew if the words were meant for him to hear they would have been audible.

He saw the other shudder from the same cold breeze that stole the word away and he almost smiled. Almost, but not quiet and now it didn't even show in his eyes. He had almost learnt to control the expression in his eyes but still strong emotions blazed through, like the one of loneliness that had just been pushed into refuge by the presence of the stallion.

His head lifted as he saw the creature begin to move and emerge from the shadows claim. Now that he could see the other he stared unblinking, taking in everything he could from the brute. He had seen this horse before but that was as far as recognition would permit. Who this animal was he had no idea and still he had no idea of what allegiance the equine was sworn to. But he had a feeling that he would soon find out.

When words were formed by the other Dorcha raised his head more and looked strait at the other's eyes trying to see what he could find from them. He knew that eyes were always the best source of information and so he held his gaze there, pools inviting the other to drown within.

I know not of you

His words were barely audible to him as another gust of ice cold wind took them away but he knew that the receiver would hear them perfect as the wind's course led them straight to him. He spoke truthfully but hid the expression from his voice, only when he knew more of the creature would his words contain expression. He asked no question at the end of this but knew that he would be informed of who the other being was. He just had to wait.

So I'm not good enough to hang out with your friends
You say it's a bluff, it's no lie
You want to be cool and hang with both sides
But what would they say, I'm the fool
It's a superficial society

He nodded as the words whipped at his cheeks. He hadn't expected the wolf to know him. After all, he wasn't exactly famous... Or otherwise he wasn't famous in a positive light. He was the so called 'bad-guy', the one who 'deserted' his herd, only to come back later, stronger, and rid their presence of their new king. He smiled at the thought of Prince not even willing to face him. The stallion had backed down so quickly it wasn't even amusing, but Felstead still got a good laugh out of it every now and then. He snorted.

"I am Felstead. King of the neutral bloodlines."

He didn't care that the Darq's hated the neutrals. If this creature wished to try and kill him for his choice in life, then let it be so, let him try. He wouldn't succeed. Even though the dark's seemed to hate the neutrals even more than the lights did, they hated them just as much back.
It still didn't bother him. He cared not for allegiance, just like he wouldn't judge someone by the color of their pelt, or the battle scars they bore. Those fickle things didn't count, didn't matter.

Why wouldn't you wake up to reality
I guess backstabbing ain't the way of life for me
Open your mind and close your eyes
To the things that really persist

They had been watching each other for a while now, there was nothing more to see on Fel's side, so slowly he approached the wolf, muscles taunt beneath shimmering pelt, readied in case the canine took the approach the wrong way. He came within striking distance of the animal, testing his boundries. He did not look down on him, for even though he did not know him, he was not here to disrespect him. He looked across the wolf at his tail, studying the hairs on its tip as they wavered in the breeze.

A need to follow someone else's rules
With covered eyes like a bunch of fools
How could they be so goddamn lame
Just live and die for no one's name

Once he learned of the brutes name and became certain of his allegiance Dorcha just studied him for a time. He wanted to learn as much of other animals as he could in case it was needed in the future and he knew that most of what was said did not come from words.

When the equine came closer his lobes twitched for a second but that was the only movement that was detectable. He almost snarled at the brute to back away but was able to refrain himself. Instead he fixed him with a cold gaze instead that spoke of the words he had stopped himself from uttering.

I am Dorcha Taranis, wanderer of the night.

Were the words that he finally spoke. They held little emotion as he was still trying to figure out where he stood with the hooved creature. Under normal circumstances he would have turned his back on the creature and walked away. But the emptiness of the lands held him in place. He was lonely. The fact was undeniable though he was not prepared to admit it. But at the moment any company was worthwhile. It would stop him from loosing his mind and could prove to be entertaining.

He said nothing more but waited for the other to speak. For now there was just silence but it did not bother him. In fact it usually suited him just fine.
